Sten Van Dalen's first work. One of two small vases that came out of the kiln that first contained vases. This work turned out beautifully, and due to the master's long hospitalization, only the remaining apprentices and family were able to fire this piece, and for the first time in a long time, the galaxy crystals that had not appeared were beautifully revealed. When the kiln was finally opened, the galaxy that emerged was even more brilliant than usual. This piece will not be for sale, but will be exhibited only with the hope of his future growth.

季節を彩る5色の銀河。

水色の「春銀河」

青の「夏銀河」

緑の「秋銀河」

白の「冬銀河」

黄色の「睦月銀河」

しかし、同じ釉薬をかけても窯を開けたらまるで違う色。その時の窯、気候、材料などの様々な条件によって異なる表情を見せるため、同じものは二つとありません。

銀河釉の星々は、金属の結晶。

銀河釉の器の中には、無数の星が輝いているように見えます。

これは金属の結晶が、輝いているのです。

釉薬に含まれるさまざまな金属元素が、1250度前後の高温で焼成され、除冷されていく過程で、結晶化していきます。

その結晶は光を乱反射するため、屋内と外の光で見るのでは、また違った輝きに。お酒や水などの液体を入れると、さらに異なる表情をみせます。

電子レンジもオーブンもOK

高温で焼成しているので、割れたり変形することもありません。普段の食器のようにお使いいただいてOK。

たわしでゴシゴシ擦っても大丈夫です。

結晶はガラス層の中にあるものなので、剥がれ落ちたり薄くなったりする心配はありません。

ろくろとたたら作り。

陶芸といえば、きっと皆さんがイメージするのは「ろくろ」。銀河釉の作品もその大半が陶芸家・中尾哲彰の手によって作られたものです。

しかし、食器の中には「たたら」で作られているものも。これは、薄く伸ばした土を切って作る技法です。例えば、この写真の上のカップはろくろで、下のお皿はたたら。どちらも手作りのため微妙にサイズやカーブ具合のズレがあります。
