Woodgrain Vase - Spring Galaxy
This is a one-of-a-kind vase made by the artist's wife. Its wide mouth allows you to put lots of flowers in it. By imitating a wooden board onto the clay, the texture of the wood grain is preserved, and it also has a soft feel, like a rolled up cloth.
▼What is the Wood Grain Series?
These works were made by simply copying the wooden boards that were removed during renovation of the exterior walls of the workshop, which had begun to leak due to aging. The beautifully aged grain of the wood is filled with the history of the workshop, which dates back to before the birth of Gingayu glaze, and these works literally capture the history of the workshop over half a century.
